Officially the Kingdom of Thailand and formerly known as Siam, Thailand is a country in Southeast Asia. It's known for tropical beaches, opulent royal palaces, ancient ruins and ornate temples displaying figures of Buddha.

Tourism makes up about 6% of the country's economy. Thailand was the most visited country in Southeast Asia in 2013, according to the World Tourism Organisation.

Most tourists visit the capital city of Bangkok and the historical, natural, and cultural sights in its vicinity. Others enjoy the beaches and islands in the south, or go on trekking and adventure travel in the north.
