In 1841, the British arrived at Sheung Wan's Possession Point. They quickly decided to create a metropolis on Hong Kong Island's north shore, and the present-day Central was chosen as the location of key military facilities and an administrative center. Central housed the jail, the court, and the first government-built school for board education. The tour will take you to several heritage sites/buildings that have played significant roles in Hong Kong's history. You will also get to ride on the longest elevator and walkway system in the world.
This private tour will first take you to the Central Market, the city's first wet market and one of only two Bauhaus market buildings still standing in Hong Kong. It is also part of the Central and Western Heritage Trail. The next stop will be Tai Kwun, also known as the Former Central Police Station Compound (CPS Compound). It is a designated monument in Central that includes three buildings: the former Central Police Station, the Former Central Magistracy, and the Victoria Prison. We will then pass by PMQ, the historic site of the old Hollywood Road Police Married Quarters, which is now a mixed-use arts and design venue.
